MAKE RISO NOT WAR
Druckbar is an open and community-oriented space for creatives who want to explore the vibrant universe of Riso. Located in Dessau, we are part of VorOrt community which is run by volunteers and home to many inspiring makers and other kinds of workshops.
For us it is about making risoprinting easy and accessible for anyone curious about. We offer open and private workshops for professionals, children, and adults, and host exhibitions showcasing local artists. We introduce Design Späti, transforming our workshop into a design store with products created by local artists. In summer, we open our windows for Vinyls am Fenster —a chance to spend Wednesday nights listening to vinyl sessions from talented selectors while enjoying a drink with friends.
Druckbar is a print workshop, but it isn’t a place to drop in with a USB stick and grab copies in seconds. Druckbar is about sharing our space and tools, passing on the knowledge of Risoprinting and living as a commons ourselves. When you see a Risoprint here—or anywhere else—you know that it wasn’t mass-produced. It was printed with care for its artistic visuality, through a labor-intensive process, and with a stance toward the world by a dedicated operator. You can, of course, still come with a USB stick to print — but you’ll leave with something that definitely isn’t just a copy.
In short, Druckbar aims to enrich Dessau’s cultural scene through visual arts and music.
Some highlights collaborations: HS Anhalt, Bauhaus Stiftung, Universität Hamburg, Wir Mit Dir, VorOrt E.V, Hilfe mit Haendel, Umwelt Bundes Amt, Handsaw press Tokio, La Bruja Riso, among others.

Far from being a clean-cut, overly serious studio, how we do things is just as important as the outcome. We create, make mistakes, and learn from each other, much like in the trial-and-error process of risography. At the side of the machine, when prints fall to the tray — the vibrant colours and unique textures of Riso never fails to inspire us to keep going.
